It's hard, she knows, for him to wrap his thoughts around such things - it's simply not in his programming. He wants to protect her from all hurts, however small they may be. So she is patient, letting him work through her memories to an understanding of sorts. There's silent encouragement as well, a readiness to share more, should he wish to see.
