"Dr. Crusher here. If this is a medical emergency, please go directly to audio. If not, please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible."
[Beverly casually, cheerfully loops her arm through his (hopefully providing some undemanding physical support and reassurance) as she steers him out the door towards the kitchen.]
She's wonderful! I can't wait for you to meet her! I don't know that she'll be in the kitchen right now, but I'm sure we'll get another chance. And she leaves plenty of leftovers in the fridge - provided Sokka and Allen haven't gotten to them first. Then you might just be stuck with whatever I can manage to whip up.
[Once they're in the kitchen it's of course way more than one real food Beverly prepares for him. In fact, she may be going slightly overboard, hauling out leftovers from everywhere (seriously, how does Blue Fish manage to hide this much food??) and even whipping up a couple things herself, though those dishes aren't quite as good as Kairi's. In any case, there is... entirely too much food here for one man's breakfast.
As for herself, what else would it be but a cup of coffee and a croissant?]
I can send some food back with you. Or at least, the stuff I made. Of course, maybe that's better if it's my cooking: then your crewmates won't be quite so jealous.
[Her food is really not all that bad. She'd just gotten out of the habit of making things from scratch while in Starfleet, with the replicators and everything. Getting back into cooking here has been an adjustment.]
When we don't know how long we're going to be here, well... it's difficult, sometimes, getting to know people. I have some crewmates who've been here six months and others who were only here a few weeks. We do the best we can though, for one another.
[Yeah, it upsets her more than she's letting on right now, especially considering she thought they had lost Sokka. No need to pile her own worries on top of his though, so she puts on a cheerful smile.]
Any time! It's nice to get back in the habit of cooking again, at least a little bit. I should do it more often, at home.

[It's been weeks. At the least, weeks. Real food sounds desperately appealing.]
Clearly, this Kairi is a gift from the Prophets.

If it's not camp gruel or gelatinous goop, I could eat enough to feed the Klingon army, I promise.

I think we can handle that. Is there anything in particular that you're craving?

Alright, one real food, coming up.

Or, more likely, he's going to discover his stomach has shrunk from weeks of poor food and decreasing appetite.
He's already picking at food as it's barely done, or in components. It's food. He actually groans with pleasure at the sensation of eating again.]

Sorry. I guess I got a little carried away.

[He's trying to eat a little bit of everything.]
Though I'll admit, my stomach may have shrunk somewhat from my usual, greedy portions...

[For people starved of real food, her cooking is ambrosia.]
It... might help with the getting to know people?
no subject
It should!
[Certainly works on this ship anyway.]

[He hadn't realised that. People coming and going without warning, just there one day and gone the next.
Not unlike the camp, in some regards. Life here was precariously uncertain.]
I understand. Thank you, for the food.
